Police arrest suspect in shooting outside Baskin Robbins
PHOENIX – A suspect is in custody following a shooting that killed a man and wounded a woman Wednesday night.
It happened at about 8 p.m. in front of a Baskin Robbins in a strip mall near 75th Avenue and Indian School Road.
The man was shot four times and his girlfriend was shot twice. Both were struck in the head and chest and were rushed to the hospital.
Police said Edgar Sigala, 24, died from his injuries. At last check the unidentified 26-year-old woman was in serious condition.
Investigators learned the suspect met with both victims at the Baskin Robbins prior to this incident. Martos said the suspect left only to return with a gun.
As both victims were exiting the business, the suspect shot them then fled from the area in a vehicle, according to Sgt. Steve Martos.
Numerous cars near the scene were riddled with bullet holes.
Officers were able to obtain sufficient information to identify and arrest the suspect late Wednesday night.
Jose Acuna, 22, was booked on one count of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder and a weapons violation.
