A Columbus, Ohio man suspected of a quadruple murder has been tracked down in Oktibbeha County, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

The U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team tracked Robert Lee Adams, 27, to a home in Rock Hill, northeast of Starkville.

Adams, according to U.S. Marshals, is wanted in Ohio for four counts of murder, five counts of kidnapping, five counts of robbery and one count of felonious assault. The charges stem from a deadly June 13 robbery wherein Adams and an accomplice, according to federal authorities, held five victims at gunpoint in the basement of a home in Columbus, Ohio.

Adams allegedly shot the five victims, killing four of them.

Since then, Adams has been on the run and has been subject of a large scale, multi-agency, multi-state fugitive investigation. His accused accomplice was arrested shortly after the shooting.

The Columbus-based Marshals, working with the Columbus Division of Police, developed information that led investigators to several address of interest near Starkville. Information and tips the Marshals gathered indicated that Adams fled to Mississippi shortly after the shooting.

Officers of the United States Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and deputies from the Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Department swarmed two addresses Wednesday morning and eventually cornered Adams in a home in the Rock Hill community.

Officers reportedly found Adams -- surrounded by piles of clothes -- in a bedroom closet.

"This fugitive has demonstrated extreme violence and shown a disregard for the lives of others," said U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Ohio Peter C. Tobin. "We in the law enforcement community are very happy that Adams is in custody without further bloodshed."

Neighbors relieved after Hudson Street quadruple murder suspect arrested

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) - Robert Lee Adams Jr., the second suspect in the Hudson Street quadruple murder that happened in June, has been arrested in Mississippi.

He was on the run for nearly 9 weeks after a fatal shooting that claimed the lives of four people in Columbus.

Joyce Hasan, who lives nearby, said Wednesday was “a very good day for us.”

“We didn’t think he would be caught,” she said. “It’s been heartbreaking. It’s something that you hear and you hope it’s not real.”

Tricia Banks said the shock of finding out about the murders has not dissipated.

“It’s still shocking. It’s still like you’re in a trance that will never go away.”

Police had been looking for Adams, 27, after arresting 16-year-old Jordyn D. Wade, who is also been charged in the murder. Police said Adams is the alleged gunman.

“Obviously, this person needs to be taken off the street,” Columbus Police sergeant Rich Weiner shared Wednesday afternoon.

“The investigators have been working around the clock, trying to find out the whereabouts of where this guy was,” Weiner said.

They also re-interviewed witnesses and spoke to other suspects, working every possible lead and tips that were called into Crime Stoppers.

According to police, Adams robbed and shot five people at the residence in the 1600 block of E. Hudson Street June 13. Four of the five people shot, died as a result of their injuries.

Police have identified the victims as Angela D. Harrison, 35; Tyajah Nelson, 18; Daniel Sharp, 36; and Michael Ballour, 41.

According to court documents Wade wasn’t the shooter in the deaths of the four victims, but he did allegedly hold the victims at gunpoint and allowed another person to kill them.

$10 million bond for quadruple murder suspect

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Robert Lee Adams Jr., the second suspect in the Hudson Street quadruple murder that happened in June appeared before a Franklin County judge Thursday.

A judge set Adams’ bond at 10 million dollars. He must also stay away from the prosecution’s witnesses, not possess firearms, not consume drugs or alcohol and commit no further acts of violence.

Adams was brought back into Ohio on Wednesday after his arrest on August 12.

Columbus Police say they were told that Adams was hiding out in Mississippi and they shared that tip with the U.S. Marshals.

Wednesday morning Marshals checked two addresses in rural Oktibbeha County and found Adams hiding in a closet.

According to Oktibbeha County deputies, Adams was with a relative at the time he was arrested.

Also charged is 16-year-old Jordyn D. Wade.

According to police, Adams and Wade robbed five people at the residence in the 1600 block of E. Hudson Street June 13. Police said Adams was the shooter.

Teen charged as adult in 4 slayings at Ohio home

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A 16-year-old boy has been charged as an adult in the slayings of four people at an Ohio home last summer.

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien Tuesday detailed a 29-count indictment against defendant Jordyn Wade, including charges of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

O'Brien says Wade is accused of helping a 27-year-old accomplice rob five victims, then standing with his gun drawn while the accomplice shot the victims. One survived.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for the alleged shooter, Robert Lee Adams, who has pleaded not guilty.

The Associated Press doesn't normally name juveniles but is identifying Wade because he is being tried as an adult.

Wade's attorney, Eric Hoffman, says Wade isn't accused of being the "trigger man." He says they continue to investigate the facts in the case.

Teen girl who played dead during mass Columbus shooting testifies at trial

    By Jane Morice
    cleveland.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A teenage girl who said she held her breath and played dead during a 2015 mass shooting at a Columbus home testified Wednesday against one of the accused accomplices.

The 17-year-old girl took the stand Wednesday in the Franklin County Common Pleas Court trial for Jordyn D. Wade, 17, the Columbus Dispatch reports. Wade is charged with four counts of aggravated murder, as well as multiple counts of kidnapping, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary.

Wade is accused of assisting Robert L. Adams Jr., 28, rob and kill four people in the basement of a South Linden home in June 2015, the Dispatch reports. Wade and Adams came to the home to hang out with one of the shooting victims, 41-year-old Michael Ballour, according to the Dispatch.

The duo socialized for several hours before Adams gathered everyone into the kitchen to rob them, the teen said. The victims were then led to the basement, where they were shot execution-style, according to the Dispatch.

Ballour; Tyajah Nelson; 18; Daniel Sharp, 26 and Angela Harrison, 35, were killed. The teenager testified that she held her breath and played dead after she was grazed by a bullet to the head, according to the Dispatch.

The injury left her without the top of her left ear, the Dispatch reports. Once she heard Adams and Wade leave the house, the teen went outside and asked a passerby for help.

The teen named Adams as the triggerman, but said Wade was also armed and forced the victims into the basement, according to the Dispatch.

Wade was arrested almost immediately after the incident, WCMH reports, while Adams was arrested two months after the shootings in Mississippi.

Adams' trial is slated for October, the Dispatch reports. He faces the death penalty if he is found guilty. However, because Wade was 16 years old at the time of the incident, his maximum penalty would be life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Teen with gun who stood by as 4 slain gets 172-year sentence

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An 18-year-old suspected gang member has been sentenced to nearly 175 years in prison for his role in a quadruple homicide during a robbery at an Ohio home last year.

Jordyn Wade was accused of helping an accomplice rob five people in Columbus, then standing with his gun drawn while the accomplice shot them. One person survived.

A jury convicted Wade in May, and a judge sentenced him Tuesday to 172 ˝ years in prison.

Co-defendant Robert Adams Jr. faces the death penalty if convicted during his trial next year. Wade wasn't eligible for the death penalty because he was a juvenile when the slayings happened.

The Columbus Dispatch reports Wade's attorney said life without parole wasn't appropriate given Wade's age and the fact he didn't shoot the victims.

Gunman in quadruple execution-style murders pleads guilty

Robert Adams, who shot and killed four people execution style plead guilty to aggravated murder Tuesday, avoiding a death penalty sentence. A fifth victim, a girl who was 15 at the time of the shooting, survived.

The sole survivor spoke in court after the guilty plea, erupting in tears as she called him a snake, saying Adams killed her sister and father.

Michael Ballour, 41, Daniel Sharp, 36, Angela Harrison, 35, Tyajah Nelson, 18, were found dead. in the basement of an East Hudson Street home on June 13, 2015. Police were called to the Linden neighborhood on reports a girl was bleeding on the sidewalk. Once there, the surviving teen told them people were dead inside the home.

The shooting was tied to a robbery over drugs. The teen said Adams and Jordyn Wade, who was 16 at the time, stole cocaine from one of the victims, then ordered everyone to the basement. The victim said Adams asked Wade, "Should I off them all?" before the murders. One man reportedly tried to wrestle the gun away from Adams and get away before being shot, and other victims reportedly begged for their lives.

Wade was sentenced to 172.5 years to life in prison after pleading guilty. He was not eligible for the death penalty, because he was a juvenile at the time of the murders.

Adams is expected to face life in prison for the guilty plea. His sentencing was continued.
