Most people know that Halloween is just the greatest horror movie ever made. And that you can't actually be Michael Myers. I said most
people though. Because the dark side of society is very real. The part
of society that's filled with people who take inspiration from madmen
like Leatherface or Chucky. Don't believe me? Read over these next five
real life murders that were motivated by your favorite horror icons.

1. Freddy Krueger Inspired Me To Do It

The first case on this list is about a man named Daniel Gonzalez. Who was inspired to kill after watching 'A Nightmare On Elm Street'.

In 2004, the paranoid schizophrenic went on a drug-fueled rampage and
murdered four random people, including a doctor and his wife. Gonzalez
armed himself with several knives and acted out a Freddy Krueger-like
spree. Official reports claimed that Gonzalez did not receive proper
treatment for his mental condition - Criminal Justice Degrees Guide

2. Michael Myers Inspired Me To Do It

Michael Myers seems to strike a special chord among serial killers. Because
there have been a handful of murders inspired by this madman. Dating all
the way back to 1981 with murders inspired by 'Halloween II'.

Richard Boyer was convicted of murder and robbery and sentenced to
death in 1984 in the killings of Aileen Harbitz, 68, who had been
stabbed 19 times, and her husband, Francis, 67, who had been stabbed 24
times.

The case was dubbed the "Halloween II" murders because Boyer,
while admitting the crime, blamed his actions on a drug-induced
flashback to a stabbing scene in the horror movie. Source - Los Angeles

The next big case inspired by Mike was back in 2007 for murders inspired Rob Zombies remake of the original classic 'Halloween'.

"I started watching Rob Zombie's ‘Halloween.’ In the movie a
12-year-old boy murders his stepfather, sister, and his sister's
boyfriend. It was the third time this week that I watched it," Jake
Evans, 17, wrote in a 4-page confession Oct. 4, the day after the
killings.

"While watching it I was amazed at how at ease the boy was during
the murders and how little remorse he had afterward. I was thinking to
myself, it would be the same for me when I kill someone," Source - Daily

3. Ghostface Inspired Me To Do It

The kids inspired by this Horror icon were looking to take things a bit farther than usual. Take a look.

Wes Craven’s slasher movie series Scream was the inspiration behind the
murder of Gina Castillo by her 16-year-old son and his 15-year-old
cousin, Samuel Ramirez. The two teenagers confessed
to the
gruesome murder of Castillo and admitted that they did it because they
needed money to fund a murder spree that would reenact the story line of
the first two Hollywood Scream
movies.

order to follow the Scream story line, the teenage boys planned to buy

5. Jigsaw Inspired Me To Do It

Although
the kids in this case didn't intentionally murder anyone. It still
shows the importance of not taking these horror icons too seriously.

The Saw horror movie series was the inspiration behind a cruel
prank that turned into a serious matter for two teenage girls in
Winchester, Tenn. The teenagers used the Saw plot of making victims play
games to stay alive by leaving a gruesome message on 52-year-old
Beverly Dickson
’s phone. They told Dickson that one of her friends was hidden in her house and it
would be filled with toxic gas shortly. They asked if she wanted to
live or die. Dickson got the message while attending a funeral and
suffered a stroke from
the frightening incident. The two 13-year-olds responsible for the prank call were charged with phone harassment.
