Convicted murderer Dennis Hennessy sentenced for attempting to break into Buckingham Palace

Westminster Magistrates' Court heard how he was on licence after being convicted of the murder of a homeless man in 1992, the BBC reported.

Hennessy, or Barnhill Road, Wembley, injured his hand as he climbed over the wall, which set the alarm off and alerted security.

When police found the ex con within 50 meters of the Palace he said he had been "admiring the well-kept gardens" and repeatedly asked "is Ma'am here?".

On June 19, 1992, he went to sleep in abandoned auto where Hennessy attacked him with the foot long pipe.

Reports from the time of the murder state that Hennessy attacked Kevin Cusack, 45, with an iron bar in Neasden, north-west London.

The 41-year-old, was detained by police after climbing over the wall of the premises yesterday.

Dennis Hennessy was charged with trespass on a protected site and criminal damage.

Armed police rushed to the scene to arrest the warped intruder on Wednesday evening.

She said she had no idea he was a convicted murderer. The wall is between eight and 10ft feet high topped by barbed wire and alarm wires. He also has a conviction for shoplifting in 2016.

But he said: "Mr Hennessy did not have any malicious intent towards the royal family - that's not the reason he went to Buckingham Palace".
