    A Tucson man will go to trial next year for the 20-18 murder of a U.S. Marshal.

    Ryan Phillip Schlesinger had a documented history of harassing law enforcement in Tucson. At one point, federal prosecutors say he visited the parents of a Tucson police officer and warned the officer that "crossing him" was the biggest mistake of her life.

    Then, in November 2018, police moved to arrest him for allegedly stalking another officer. A violent offender task force of the U.S. Marshals closed in on his Tucson home. Prosecutors say Schlesinger shot U.S. Marshal Chase White twice in the chest, killing him.

    A trial is scheduled for October next year. Prosecutors have said they will pursue the death penalty.

    No death penalty for man who murdered federal agent, only second-degree murder

    TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — On Monday, a jury found Ryan Schlesinger guilty for the second-degree murder of Deputy Chris White, along with multiple other counts

    Despite unable to reach a verdict on the primary charge of first-degree murder, this decision carries significant weight.

    The jury presented a unanimous verdict before the honorable U.S. District Judge Raner C. Collins. This decision shapes an impending sentencing and still maintains a high-stakes legal battle.

    According to a court document, Schlesinger was also found guilty of the remaining charges filed against him:

    A verdict of Guilty as to Counts 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 of the Superseding Indictment is read into the record.

    The jury is polled.

    The defendant waives jury trial as to the forfeiture allegation.

    The Government provides a preliminary order of forfeiture and the Waiver of Jury Trial as to the Forfeiture Allegation to be signed and filed this date.

    Schlesinger's sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 22, 2024 at 9 a.m.

    Man receives life sentence for killing federal agent Chase White in Tucson

    TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The man convicted of killing a federal agent in Tucson will spend the rest of his life in prison.

    Ryan Phillip Schlesinger was convicted last November of second-degree murder for the death of U.S. Deputy Marshal Chase White in Tucson in 2018.

    In November 2018, the 41-year-old White was part of a group of Marshals Service personnel serving a warrant at Schleslinger’s home on allegations he stalked a Tucson police officer.

    Schlesinger was not in court for sentencing and his attorneys argued for a sentence of less than 50 years.
