Do you think Grant’s execution will force Oklahoma to stop again?

No, the execution occurred without incident.

As you said Aaron he probably suffered an allergic reaction to it. Whatever attempt the prisoners in the future try to do to escape from their executions due to this will probably be mooted.

Guess I'll post here, where the most recent posts are still in regards to OK, that this was the first execution day ruling in which Barrett replacing Ginsburg tipped the scales. With Ginsburg or a Biden pick in that seat and Gorsuch recused, SCOTUS deadlocks 4-4 and the stay is left in place.

This was the second overall capital punishment case where this replacement mattered. With Ginsburg or a Biden pick, Ernest Johnson gets his 4th vote for certiorari in May. Granted, he would have lost and been executed anyway eventually, but he would have wasted time for another year or so.

So can everyone chill with posts insinuating that Barrett's votes will somehow be inimical to capital punishment? Yes, she voted for chaplain stays in February and September. But at least one other conservative justice had to have done so as well.

Gorsuch was probably the one who voted for the chaplain stays. Gorsuch did snap Oklahoma in half so it’s likely he kept the chaplain stuff intact. I wish Amul Thapar was in Barrett’s position but yes she’s exceeded the capital punishment bar. It’s too bad she didn’t choose to side with Texas this year. Had she sided with Texas Ramirez would’ve likely been juiced. I can’t possibly fathom Roberts flipping back to how he voted during Ray’s execution and both Alito and Gorsuch voting with Ramirez especially considering how much to the right Alito is of Roberts. If Roberts voted with Alabama then I’m sure Alito did too. Kavanaugh, Roberts, Thomas, and Alito probably voted that way in September too and sided with Texas. Since abortion has become such a huge topic for the conservative base Trump likely picked her to chip away at Roe.
