How many executions will Missouri have in 2020?

Honestly, I don’t see any executions for Missouri in 2020. Walter Burton was denied cert back in November. Burton is still awaiting an execution date. Missouri was just like the rest of the south, it took a while for it transform solidly republican. The Supreme Court there is liberal. The majority of the justices there are liberal. They are just like California, they destroyed the voter ID ballot initiative. The Democratic Party has become very liberal and it’s disgusting. We the people vote for something, an activist court cannot destroy that. They even destroyed their own death penalty law to a degree.

Last year, Bucklew's execution was set right after the summer, so perhaps this year we could see Burton executed in November.

They set his execution date 2 months after they decided bucklew v precythe. It’s now going on three months since Burton’s been denied cert. They have yet to set an execution date for him. That’s due to the strong liberal majority on their court

Bucklew was decided April 1 and the execution date was set on June 25. That's closer to 3 months than two. Furthermore, the timelines of 2 cases will never be completely symmetrical. Barton's date will come unless he's tied up in state court. With all due respect, don't act like a deer in headlights or abandon all hope whenever something isn't resolved as quickly as you would like.

The root cause of this is there's no discipline in the homes, they don't go to school, you know, they live off the government, no personal accountability, and they just beat people up for no reason, and it's disgusting." - Former Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters

Give Missouri about 4 more years the death penalty will be dead there. They have a whopping 24 people on death row there. If Barton and Deck go this year, we’ll be down 22. I think two will never be executed due to their mental capacity. One can’t be executed due to a so called stay that Mel Carnaharn could resolve.

There are four death row inmates with exhausted appeals in Missouri

Walter Barton will likely be executed this year
Marcellus Williams has been stayed since 2017
William Boliek will never be executed because of Carnahan’s incompetence
Roosevelt Pollard has been ruled incompetent to be executed

After Barton, the closest to execution are Carman Deck and Ernest Johnson
Most of the others are not even close to execution.

I don’t think it will be dead in four years unless Missouri elects a coward like Jay Inslee, Gavin Newsom and George Ryan

Also Missouri needs to start sentencing more people to death so they don’t run out

Yeah, well maybe if voters didn't elect District Attorneys who act like defense lawyers then you would have the outcome you desire. Take a look at Kim Ogg of Harris County, TX, for example. This woman is hardly a District Attorney who fights for justice on behalf of victims families. She's more of an activist and advocate for criminals rights. Mary Huffman is the candidate Harris County needs this year to win the Republican primary and defeat the chosen Democrat in the election, whether it be incumbent Kim Ogg or not. She's a tough as nails on crime prosecutor who pursues max sentences

The Harris County DA Election is coming up. The most popular candidate, Audia Jones, is a socialist who said she won’t seek the death penalty or set execution dates. Ogg may be bad but it’s probably going to get much worse

That's an example of a moron seeking office in a position she's not designed for. I dont understand how these people get elected. Better yet, I dont understand where their minds are at. You got these clowns running for office across the Country fighting the opposite side for which their elected position mandates.

Back to Missouri: After Barton is executed, the next two executions will likely be Deck and Johnson. Both exhausted appeals but are currently tied up in the Eighth Circuit. Both need to be cleared up before a date can be set

Update: Wow looks like we all were wrong. The next execution after Barton will be Scott McLaughlin most likely
