    Minneapolis Riots / Atlanta Shooting

Since COVID got a thread I suppose we should do the same for the next chaotic chapter of 2020. Are any members near Minneapolis? Or have connections to the city?

I don’t know of any and I followed this site for a year. The closest I believe to Minnesota is OneTwoBomb, but he’s in Michigan.

The VAST majority of members just read and don't post. Only a handful of members are actually active regularly on the forum.

What I want to know are there more members located within the United States or other countries?

Speaking of Minnesota, should this cop be eligible for the federal death penalty?

"There is a point in the history of a society when it becomes so pathologically soft and tender that among other things it sides even with those who harm it, criminals, and does this quite seriously and honestly. Punishing somehow seems unfair to it, and it is certain that imagining ‘punishment’ and ‘being supposed to punish’ hurts it, arouses fear in it." Friedrich Nietzsche

As Mike said, no he isn't.

He could be tried in Minnesota for first-degree murder for which he could get a life sentence, defined as 30 years. Many attorneys say that, because there's no real evidence of premeditation, he wouldn't be convicted of that. Murder three may be about the worst he could be convicted of, and that only gets you 12 years.

The feds could slap him with all kinds of federal charges, like a hate crime, violation of civil rights and maybe some other stuff. Maximums on some of these can be years in a federal slammer.

But this act of murder itself is strictly a state beef.

No matter what he is convicted of he'll have a very rough time in prison. Probably have to be in segregation permanently for his own safety. Will always have to watch his back having been a cop. Everyone will want to take him out

They’ve upped the charges on Chauvin to 2nd degree murder now. The other three officers involved will also be charged, no details on those charges yet.

The other three officers are charged with aiding and abetting murder.

Interesting. I have not seen help from the other officers in the killing. I did see help in the arrest, but not in the killing. If I understand "abetting" right as "encouraging", I have not seen any of that either.

I'm afraid they are giving in to public outcry, which doesn't increase the chances of a fair trial.
