    James Lee Henderson - Texas Death Row



    Summary of Offense:

    James Henderson was convicted in the 1993 shooting death of 85-year-old Martha Lennox during the attempted burglary of her home. Lennox was shot in the head by Henderson after he broke into her home.

    Henderson was sentenced to death in Bowie County in June 1994.

    The US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit remanded Henderson's case back to Federal District Court in today's opinions to determine his equitable tolling claim in light of Holland v. Florida. If he is granted equitable tolling, then the court must also review the merits of an Atkins claim.

    In today's United States Supreme Court orders, Henderson's petition for a writ of certiorari and motion for leave to proceed in forma pauperis was DENIED.

    On January 8, 2014, Henderson filed an appeal before the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
