That’s one of the reasons why I mentioned Young anyway. He was black did they commute him? No. If that nonsense race stuff didn’t fly when they were considering clemency for Young and his victim was also a minority might I add why would it fly for Jones?

It won’t fly for Jones. He’s been denied a stay by the TCCA, the clowns who hand out more stays than any other court in America. All he has left is a federal judge, the Fifth Circuit, SCOTUS and Abbott plus the parole board. I don’t see any of them giving him a stay

On another note, I've been thinking about something else for a couple of days now - it's my understanding that the sister of the victim is alive still and is primarily the one asking for clemency. The victim was 83 in 1999, and so would be 104 or 105 today. While the sister could be a decade or more younger, she must be quite old by now - perhaps pushing 100 even.

The root cause of this is there's no discipline in the homes, they don't go to school, you know, they live off the government, no personal accountability, and they just beat people up for no reason, and it's disgusting." - Former Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters

Yes, but that was in 2018. We are living in a very different climate today. The whole George Floyd thing really changed the conversation and gave BLM a much stronger, louder voice than it ever had before.

IDK if this guy will get commuted or not, but you can’t compare 2018 to now.

Per Jolie McCullough of the Texas Tribune, the parole board has denied clemency.
