The DA's name is E. Bruce Curry, not Bruce Kerr, he works in Kerr County.

Would like to know why they are moved to a place called death watch? Please explain this? This is when they find out the date of executions? Just wondered?

Deathwatch is a jail cell located adjacent to the execution chamber. The inmate stays in that cell prior to execution. Depending on the state the inmate can be moved to the deathwatch cell days before the execution, or as in Texas the day of the execution. For security reasons the inmate is moved here to make it easier for the prison staff and take the inmate off death row. There could be uprisings by other inmates if the inmate was taken straight from his cell to the execution chamber.

2nd request to delay delusional inmate's execution

Attorneys for a Texas death row inmate described as severely delusional are for a second time asking a state judge to put off the prisoner's execution set for early next month.

Convicted killer Scott Panetti is scheduled to die Dec. 3 in Huntsville for fatally shooting his in-laws 22 years ago at their home in Fredericksburg.

State District Judge N. Keith Williams in Gillespie County last week refused an emergency request from Panetti's lawyers that he reset or withdraw the execution date.

Panetti's attorneys filed a motion with Williams' court Friday arguing Panetti's long-diagnosed mental illness has worsened, that they need additional time to investigate whether he is incompetent for execution and that putting the Hayward, Wisconsin, native to death could violate his constitutional rights.

Stay denied death row inmate said to be delusional

FREDERICKSBURG, Texas (AP) - A Texas judge has refused for a second time to delay the next month's scheduled execution of a convicted murderer whose attorneys say is severely delusional and ineligible for the death penalty.

State District Judge N. Keith Williams in Gillespie County refused Wednesday a renewed request by attorneys for convicted killer Scott Panetti that Panetti's Dec. 3 execution date be reset or withdrawn. Williams rejected a similar appeal last week.

The 56-year-old Hayward, Wisconsin, man faces lethal injection for the fatal shootings of his in-laws 22 years ago at their home in Fredericksburg in the Texas Hill Country.

Panetti's lawyers contend his long-diagnosed mental illness appears to have worsened since his last evaluation seven years ago and more time is needed to determine if he's competent now for execution.

If the state wins the pending appeal at the TCCA, then there is a good chance this will proceed as planned. The TCCA usually tends to favor the inmate when it comes to MR or mental illness claims, and stays their impending executions as a result. I don't know why, but they appear to be the most flexible when it comes to those two issues. Every other court, even federal ones, tend to strongly believe this is all nonsense on Panetti's side. Regardless, Scott Panetti has mocked us and the justice system long enough with his antics. It's time for him to accept the punishment for killing those poor folks.

" more time is needed to determine if he's competent now for execution."

How is someone " incompetent " for execution ..... ? .......Seems to me that the competency issue belongs with the executioner and in that regard one only needs to ultimately hold a mirror to the nose of the convicted killer to make that determination.

There is a centuries-old rule against executing people too crazy to know what is being done and why.

My brief in Panetti's case when it went to the Supreme Court is at the following link:

Seems to me it is caused by knowing that soon you are going to be laying on the gurney. It is time to pay the piper.
