Coy Wayne Wesbrook - Texas Execution - March 9, 2016

    Summary of Offense:

On November 13, 1997, in Channelview, Wesbrook was invited over to the home of his 32-year-old ex-wife. Wesbrook believed the meeting was for a possible marital reconciliation, but when he arrived there were others present. He sat around drinking with all of them and at some point he noticed that his ex-wife and two of the men had slipped away. He went to look for them and entered the bedroom where he found her having sex with both of the men. Wesbrook then went to his truck and pulled out his .36-caliber hunting rifle and returned to the home and fatally shot his ex-wife and all three of the men in the residence, plus another woman.

Victims: Gloria Jean Coons, 32, was shot and killed at the complex where she lived. Also killed were Antonio Cruz, 35; Diana Ruth Money, 43; Anthony Ray Rogers, 41; and Kelly Hazlip, 28.

Wesbrook was sentenced to death in Harris County in September 1998.

Mr Wesbrook was one of the people evaluated by Dr George Denkowski for mental retardation.

Today the TCCA GRANTED Wesbrook's Writ of Habeas Corpus and remanded the case to the trial court. This is in accordance with the Denkowski settlement.

Killer of 5 gets another shot to dodge death

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has sent the case of a former security guard condemned for killing five people just outside Houston back to his trial court to re-examine claims he's mentally impaired and ineligible for execution.

A jury in 1998 convicted Coy Wesbrook of capital murder for fatally shooting his ex-wife and four others during a rampage in Channelview in 1997.

The 54-year-old Wesbrook is among more than a dozen death row inmates who had been examined before their trials by psychologist George Denkowski. A state medical board has reprimanded Denkowski for questionable evaluation methods in criminal cases.

The court's ruling Wednesday allows Wesbrook's trial court in Houston to accept the original findings or determine new recommendations to be delivered to the appeals court within 90 days.

I wonder how this turned out. What a great hometown legacy we have. This guy & the PomPom Mom. I actually know both of those families because our community is pretty small. This guy & his brother could be poster children for not letting first cousins breed. I don't know if they are first cousins or not but their kids turned out to be "special".

"There is a point in the history of a society when it becomes so pathologically soft and tender that among other things it sides even with those who harm it, criminals, and does this quite seriously and honestly. Punishing somehow seems unfair to it, and it is certain that imagining ‘punishment’ and ‘being supposed to punish’ hurts it, arouses fear in it." Friedrich Nietzsche

Well I guarantee TCCA will stay a couple. I thought Masterson or Garcia would get a bogus stay but Masterson is dead and Garcia appears to be a go. Wesbrook might get a stay since he's trying to play the tard card
