Bill Weld and Charle Baker both support capital punishment.
For the 48 hours following a cop getting shot. Neither would expend much political capital for a broad-based death penalty.
Baker pushed for it more so in his first couple of years in office. That was more in particular for cop killing.
If you weren't going to get it done in the immediate aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing, it just isn't going to be done. There was a close vote in 1997; ever since it has been a non-starter.
That’s true in Massachusetts it wouldn’t work anyway. The judiciary there would overturn the death sentences on appeal. That’s by far the most liberal state in the northeast. They are California of the East. They voted in gay marriage in 2004.
Rhode Island might feel slighted by that, although don't be fooled by all the Democrats in office here or in Mass. The "R" has a bad brand value among certain demographics and there are a lot of politicians that would be Republicans in other states.
New Hampshire was always the most conservative a lot of libertarian stride in the state. I wonder if Maine is trending conservative?
They’re in Massachusetts would do you expect? Furthmore, like what schmutz said if you ran a Scalia type republican there you’d get blown out. They voted to legalize same sex marriage in 2004. California didn’t even do so in 2008.
California voted down same sex marriage, the courts ruled against the voters
