Robert Earl Butts, Jr. - Georgia Execution - May 4, 2018

    Summary of Offense:

Robert Earl Butts, Jr. and Marion Wilson, Jr. were each convicted separately and sentenced to death for the March 28, 1996 shotgun slaying of Donovan Corey Parks. Wilson and Butts had asked Parks, a prison guard, for a ride outside the Wal-Mart in Milledgeville. He agreed. After driving away, they ordered Parks to pull over and get out of the car. He was killed with a shotgun blast to the head. It was unclear who pulled the trigger. Wilson and Butts abandoned and burned Parks' Acura. Police found the gun under Wilson's bed.

For more on Wilson, who was executed on June 20, 2019, see: http://www.cncpunishment.com/forums/...ert+earl+butts

Butts has collected some weeds and leaves from the prison exercise yard, and made a collage. Dorothy Knott hopes by displaying his work in an art gallery it will provide insight into the prisoner's life.

Ms. Knotts said.. ""I think if you go and see the exhibition and look at his art and read his letters you will see what kind of man he is."

This young man's crime is not to be forgotten. Irrespective of how he has turned his life around. He must pay for his crime. I don't favor the Death penalty. But he must pay his dues....

It seems as though his habeas appeal is still pending in Federal District Court.
