Those cases were all no brainers and clemency is exceedingly rare. This is the first commutation since 2014. Furthermore, I'd hardly say every other execution has been cancelled. Among post 2016 inmates only Tharpe and Meders have escaped death (and Tharpe will face execution again).

The root cause of this is there's no discipline in the homes, they don't go to school, you know, they live off the government, no personal accountability, and they just beat people up for no reason, and it's disgusting." - Former Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters

Time to fire everyone on the Georgia Parole Board and replace them with non-cowards

The fact that none of his buddies in this robbery were charged always irked me. The jurors all jumping ship means they probably believed that his mates should've been charged as well and this wasn't a solo effort. Which means if this trial happened just 4 years later he wouldn't of gotten death. Bill Arnold was in on this robbery and got away with his involvement in this.

Ted Georgia is starting to run on these lesser robbery murder cases now which are less venomous and poignant as the rape, assaults cases that they were going through a couple of years ago. So expect the courts to go more soft on these cases.

"There is a point in the history of a society when it becomes so pathologically soft and tender that among other things it sides even with those who harm it, criminals, and does this quite seriously and honestly. Punishing somehow seems unfair to it, and it is certain that imagining ‘punishment’ and ‘being supposed to punish’ hurts it, arouses fear in it." Friedrich Nietzsche

His companions not being charged is, to me, the big distinction that separates this case from a case like Cromartie's.

This guy was the one who led the death penalty repeal effort in New Hampshire last year. He was also the lawyer in Grey vs Mississippi for the Supreme Court. Just looking at him he looks like Bernie Sanders.
