Death penalty sought against 2 men in AK-47 killings
Two 22-year-old men indicted on aggravated murder charges today could face the death penalty if found guilty of killing of two men near Imperial Avenue.
Montez Logan, of Akron, and Demetrius Allen, of Garfield Heights, killed Kenneth Green, 18, and Miley Slaughter, 22, near East 123rd Street near Imperial Avenue, Cuyahoga County prosecutors said.

The shootings occurred about 8:40 p.m. on July 17. Another victim of the shooting, Antwon Weems, 22, had to have his foot amputated.
Logan and Allen were also charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses in Common Pleas Court.
Ryan Miday, spokesman for the prosecutor's office, said the day before the shooting there was a fight between men at East 55th Street and Woodlawn Avenue.
The next day, two men with an assault rifle and a handgun walked up on five men in front of a home on East 123rd Street and opened fire.
"Miley Slaughter made it to the driveway when he was shot several times by the AK-47," Miday said. "He fell down in the driveway. The shooter with the AK-47 then fired more rounds at two victims... The shooter with the AK-47 then turned around, stood over Slaughter and fired more rounds into him. (Slaughter) was shot a total of nine times."
Miday said Green, who was running toward the back yard, was shot by a semi-automatic and was found gasping for air.
An AK-47 is a selective fire assault rifle first developed in the Soviet Union.
Miday noted that the shooting took place around the corner from the home of accused serial killer Anthony Sowell, who is awaiting trial in the deaths of 11 women.
