    Donald Allen Jones - South Carolina




    Facts of the Crime:

    Convicted of the October 1983 murders of his former employer Ned Plyler and his wife, Geraldine Plyler. Jones broke into the Plyler residence, and robbed and murdered the couple. Geraldine Plyler was also raped.

    Jones was sentenced to death on February 8, 1984 in Lancaster County.

    On August 31, 1998, the South Carolina Supreme Court upheld the Lancaster County Circuit Court's denial of Jones' post-conviction relief application.

    Will he also get a date if South Carolina restarts this year? Apparently, he is out of appeals for almost 20 years now. It is frustrating that he is still alive.

    One of South Carolina's longest serving death row inmates dies following hospitalization

    According to the South Carolina Department of Corrections, South Carolina Death Row inmate Donald Allen Jones, 60, died at a local hospital Saturday. The preliminary cause of death is stroke.

    He was 60-years-old.

    The preliminary cause of death is stroke. An autopsy will be performed in Richland County. Richland County Corenor Naida Rutherford said Jones has been hospitalized since Wednesday.

    Jones is the second-longest serving resident of South Carolina’s Death Row, having lived there since 1984. He was convicted of murder, criminal sexual conduct, armed robbery, larceny from an automobile, and larceny-housebreaking in the 1983 Lancaster County shooting death of Ned Plyler. He was sentenced to death for his crimes.
