    Kareem M. Jackson - Ohio Execution - December 10, 2025

    Facts of the Crime:

On March 25, 1997, Jackson murdered Antonio Hunter and Terrance Walker at a Lupo Court Apartment. Jackson and Mr. Walker were acquaintances. Jackson and his accomplices, "Little Bee," Michael Patterson, Derrick Boone and Malaika Williamson, went to the apartment to rob the men. After robbing them of $40, some marijuana and a cellular phone, Jackson shot Mr. Hunter and Mr. Walker in the head because they knew his name.

On December 22, 2010, Jackson filed an appeal in the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit over the denial of his habeas petition (concerning his guilty verdict) in Federal District Court.

On December 16, 2010, a Federal District Court Judge granted Kareem Jackson habeas relief as it concerns his death sentence. The state is appealing that decision to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.

I found the opinion. It's based on jury instructions like the ones in Mitts and Spisak but they are referenced within the opinion so its anyone's guess whether this will actually stand or not.

JLR that was the opinion issued by the Federal District Court granting habeas relief as to petitioner's sentence. The matter is now before the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati though. The State has appealed the District Court's decision.

Moh - My sources vary state by state. As it pertains to Ohio, all information I have is located right off the Attorney General's office website.

Yeah I know. I was just giving the opinion so people could get more details, on what he's appealing on.

    Kareem Jackson v. Margaret Bradshaw

In today's Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals opinions, the court AFFIRMED the district court’s original decision denying Jackson's petition for writ of habeas corpus, REVERSED the district court’s order incase number 10-4592, and DENIED the petition.

This is a remarkable decision. Jackson's petition was denied by a panel made up of one Clinton appointee (Eric Clay) and two Carter appointees (Boyce Martin and Gilbert Merritt). Martin and Merritt are especially well known for overturning death sentences on the flimsiest of grounds. It appears that even these judges are finally paying heed to the US Supreme Court after repeated smackdowns by said body.
