18 year old sentenced to life in prison

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - An 18 year old Jackson teenager was sentenced to spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Tevin Ward pled guilty Monday to the 2008 murder of a young mother of three children.

It was an emotional day in court for the family of a Rebecca Bolton Mack.

Tevin Ward admitted in court he shot and robbed Mack in 2008.

Ward was 16 when he committed the crime.

The family said Ward offered no mercy to the young mother of three children after shooting and robbing her at a gas station.

Ward and his accomplice demanded cash during a robbery, but Mack only carried a debit card.

In court, the victims sister was allowed to address Ward. "It's more than unforgivable and will never be forgotten. You'll never realize what you've taken from each member of our family, and the pain that you have caused."

Ward apologized to the family and said he didn't intend to kill her and regretted his actions.

Since Ward was 16 at the time of the crime he is not eligible for the death penalty.
