Yeah, seriously, how was Florida able to execute Pardo when they used pentobarbital and they're under 11th Circuit jurisdiction? Not to mention that Alabama successfully executed four people with pentobarbital.

I'm just hoping Alabama doesn't pull some nonsense like Ohio and schedule execution dates two years into the future. When executions resume, there's going to be a slew of inmates awaiting a date.

Do they just execute inmates who waived their rights to appeal like Conneticut, Pennsylvania or Nevada or why are they waiting with setting more execution dates?

My understanding is that Alabama has an Eighth Amendment lethal injection challenge still to be resolved, which is why inmates whose appeals have been otherwise exhausted haven't gotten execution dates yet. Lackey is an exception insofar as he's been given an execution date because he's waived his appeals.

Alabama is up to 20 inmates ready to go if AL gets the LI issue settled. Its going to be a bloodbath like MO has going on and long overdue. Can anyone find any info on the LI legal case and when it might be heard and settled?
