Death penalty sought in burning death
The State Attorney’s Office announced today that it would seek the death penalty against two women accused of setting fire to a woman who later died.
Tina Brown, 39, and Heather Lee, 27, face the death penalty in the March 24 attack that led to the death of Audreanna Zimmerman.
The juvenile in the case, Britnee Miller, 16, is not eligible for the death penalty due to her age. She is charged with first-degree murder and faces a mandatory life sentence if convicted.
Zimmerman, 19, was lured to a wooded area in West Pensacola March 24 and the two women and teenager doused her in gasoline and set her on fire. Zimmerman ran to a nearby house where the occupants called 911.
She was transported to the USA Burn Center in Mobile, where she was in a coma for two weeks before she died.
