Facts of the Crime:
Charged with first-degree murder of his former girlfriend, 24-year-old Michele Barahona, in Sun Valley on January 23, 2002. Two jurors voted to convict him of second-degree murder. Trial Judge Barry A. Taylor declared a mistrial on that count. However, the jurors convicted Beltran of the first-degree murders of his daughters, two-year-old Natalie and six-year-old Marissa. Like their mother, both had been stabbed. The jury also found the special circumstance of multiple murder.
Beltran was sentenced to death in Los Angeles County on October 12, 2007.
