Death Row Last Meal Themed Restaurant Surprised By HUGE Online Backlash! Surprised? Really??

A pop-up restaurant set to open up in a posh area of east London, Hoxton, is rethinking its next steps carefully after receiving huge online backlash.

The restaurant is called Death Row Dinners, and it was supposed to be all about "[eating] like it's your last meal on earth."

    The restaurant said:

"And for a short time only in beautiful Hoxton you can enjoy the idea of the last meal, without the nasty execution bit."

While that sounds like just another gimmicky restaurant, people were really upset because they had photos of inmates with signs around their necks.

The signs didn't have their inmate number and name though, they were meals… it was the menu. It's like the restaurant was trivializing a really serious and sad topic.

The backlash got so bad, the restaurant took down the photos and put a statement up on their website. It read:

"We're shocked and saddened by the response to Death Row Dinners and are genuinely very sorry for any offense caused. The pop up is intended to explore the concept of last meals; anyone who has ever been to a dinner party has probably had this conversation – what would they love their last meal to be.

In light of the response to the idea we are considering our next steps and will update everyone with our decision."

Yeah, we feel like after reviews like this, and the food probably just tasting like normal food, this restaurant won't do too well.

Heck, they might not ever open their doors. And that might not be a bad thing.

Texas Cannibal Death Row Hoax: African Child for ‘Cannibal Pedophile’ Stephen K. Walker for Last Meal is Bogus

There’s been several articles and rumors saying a Texas death row inmate requested or ate an African child as his last meal. They’re all fake.

The original one was posted on a Belgian satirical website before it was translated to English and published on other fake news sites.

But there’s another one going around from Hip-Hop Hangover, which posts fake news.

“Stephen K. Walker, French M. Robertson Unit inmate in Abilene, Texas, is on death row for murder and cannibalism of the 2006 case that sentenced him to death,” it says. “When asked what he would want his final meal to be, he said with no hesitation, “A little boy.”

It adds :”The Department of Corrections are supposed to accept all the demands of any kind. So it was initially thought that they were buying a corpse in a morgue to satisfy the desires of Stephen Walker. But tables turned when it was said that they were trying to find a toddler from a third world country and buy him/her alive within a budget of $25,000.”

According to Snopes, a hoax-debunking website, there’s been fake reports about this in the past.

“The article relies on a common misconception: that last meal requests, no matter how difficult or implausible they may be, must be honored. As we noted in a recent, similar article, this is simply not the case. Not only is there no law mandating last meal requests be honored by prison officials, the practice is a rapidly-dying courtesy that is not always extended to condemned prisoners (and has already been eliminated in the state of Texas),” the site says.
