Nobody will ever replace him. A justice who truly cared about Americans.

Clarence Thomas will die on the bench. Here's hoping he lives to be 100.

Hopefully we can enjoy him for a long time to come. He has actually some chance of becoming only the second justice ever to serve more than half of his life on SCOTUS, after Joseph Story.

He also has a real shot at becoming the longest serving justice by far. If he serves half his life, he'd break the current record by eight years.

We can reasonably hope that Barrett will not betray the original Constitution.

Otherwise she would destroy the very basis to deny a constitutional right to abortion and should not be admitted to the Federalist Society.

It is worth remembering today that more and more Catholics are rejecting papal infallibility and following their conscience instead, as the late Justice Antonin Scalia did on the very death penalty topic, though he had a Catholic priest son and believed in the Devil.

Pope Francis also abolished life sentences from Vatican laws, even with possibility of parole, on the grounds that they are "a form of death penalty in disguise".

Now the maximum penalty in Vatican City is 35 years. Under such a law, Charles Manson would have been freed in 2004 or sooner if paroled. Nazi genociders arrested in 1944 would have been freed in 1979 or sooner if paroled.

I read that Lindsey Graham hopes for a hearing around October 12 and then there could be a floor vote around October 29.

Kamala is on the judiciary committee which means she’ll have to leave the campaign trial.
