If I had to make a comparison, this will likely have the same affect on the midterms the Kavanaugh hearing did in 2018 by waking up the base at the 11th hour and making something like a 50+ seat loss to a 40 seat loss in the house. I don’t think any other issue will overshadow Biden’s approval rating this year.

I have a myriad of conflicting opinions on the theoretical and actual merits and ramifications of this, but I will say that the meltdown is absolutely hilarious.

Man Found Outside Kavanaugh’s Home Charged With Attempted Murder

    By Greg Stohr
    Bloomberg

A man who was armed with a pistol outside Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home Wednesday and said he wanted to kill him faces federal attempted murder charges, according to a complaint filed in US District Court in Maryland.

Nicholas John Roske, 26, of Simi Valley, California, told detectives he believed the justice he intended to kill would vote to loosen gun controls in a pending Supreme Court decision. Roske was scheduled to appear before US Magistrate Judge Timothy J. Sullivan Wednesday.

Roske was seen by two US deputy marshals getting out of a taxi near a justice’s home dressed in black and carrying a backpack and a suitcase, according to an affidavit filed in support of the complaint. The Supreme Court identified the justice as Kavanaugh, who lives in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and whose home has previously been targeted by protesters.

“The man was armed and made threats against Justice Kavanaugh,” Supreme Court spokeswoman Patricia McCabe said in an email.

Roske was taken into custody by the Montgomery County Police and allegedly also told detectives that he was upset about the recent leak of the court’s draft decision regarding the right to abortion and the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

A search of his backpack and suitcase revealed he was carrying a tactical knife, a pistol with two magazines and ammunition, pepper spray, zip ties, and various hardware, according to the affidavit.

Kavanaugh’s home has been the site of protests since Politico published the draft opinion May 2. Politico said Kavanaugh was one of five justices who at least tentatively voted to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade ruling, which established the constitutional right to abortion in 1973.

The Supreme Court has ramped up security since then, surrounding its building with eight-foot unscalable fencing. The building has been closed to the public since the pandemic began in March 2020. The court is scheduled to rule by the end of its term in late June or early July.

Politicians said justices needed to be better protected after the incident. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell called the reported incident “an assassination attempt against a sitting justice, or something close to it.” He called on the House to act by the end of the day on Senate-passed legislation that would enhance security for Supreme Court justices and their family members.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, a Democrat from Maryland, said Wednesday he is “hopeful we can get an agreement soon” to enhance Supreme Court security.

Attorney General Merrick Garland told reporters Wednesday that threats of violence against justices “strike at the heart of our democracy.”

He'll be back out on the street in no time. Meanwhile a bunch of cosplaying Boomers who took selfies in the Capitol are still in solitary...

If Republicans ever get back in power they need to treat folks like this the same as the January 6 defendants. We know they don't have the spine, but still.

Boy oh boy am I conflicted. Good news first - 1) this might A) serve as a potent deterrent to blue state migration to red states and B) serve as an impetus for a liberal exodus from states teetering on the brink of going blue such as GA. One major caveat, of course, is that many people can't afford to move. But, importantly, it might cause the richer and thus more influential liberals, the ones behind the push for voter registration and drop ballots and college campus voting etc, to leave. Outside money and agitation will remain a problem, but that can be addressed later.

Two) This serves as a disincentive for hookup culture and promiscuity. Now, people will possibly be more inclined to ask, "do I want this person to be the mother/father of my children?" Reducing hookup culture could help bring back stronger marriages, and maybe usher in an instauration of the nuclear family. We'll see.

Now the bad, and possible mitigate thereof:

This will prove a disaster for health and life expectancy. With prenatal screening gone, people will be born with medical conditions requiring lifelong and expensive care. Republicans will not increase access to healthcare. Schools and medical resources, already overburdened, will be further strained. This will be a disaster for life expectancy, quality of life, crime rates, etc and will further widen the cleft between blue and red states on those metrics. This will possibly be the most dysgenic event of the still nascent century. However, this is somewhat mitigated by the fact that we are already on a dysgenic trajectory regardless of abortion. America is nearly three quarters overweight or obese. The legal status of abortion won't change that. Drug, alcohol, and pornography addiction run rampant, and will continue to do so as they are their own issue.

We won't know whether the good outweighs the bad for some time.

Yeah no offense but I don't think a degenerate gangbanging thug's opinion is worth anything on any political issue.

Also last time I checked you need a man to create as well. Last time I checked you needed a man's genetic material to initiate a pregnancy.

Edit: Check Tupac's Wikipedia article. He was convicted of abusing a woman. Such a woman respecter!

Didn't Tupac Rape multiple women and get convicted for one of them?
