I received a very nice response from the KDOC Public Information guy. He informed me that due to security reasons the scheduled execution time in Kansas is not public knowledge. I suspect this will change if/when we have an execution.

In Arizona 10:00am is the start time of the 24 hour period that the Death Warrant is good for.

Are these designated as local time, or otherwise?

Tenn. moves execution time up to 10 p.m.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Executions in Tennessee will now be carried out three hours earlier.

Gayle Ray, Commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Correction, said Monday that after June 1 state executions will take place at 10 p.m. instead of 1 a.m.

She said the decision was made in consideration of crime victim's families, prison staff and the general public.

Ray said a survey of 16 states with the death penalty show that most of them have set their executions earlier than midnight.

The last execution in Tennessee was in December when 53-year-old Cecil Johnson was put to death for killing three people while robbing a Nashville convenience store.

He was officially declared dead at 1:34 a.m.

All the times should be at 12:01 AM because that will maximize the time for the warrant when the avalanche of appeals get filed on execution day.
