Unsub - new guy on the block

    Greetings fellow internetters.

I made an account awhile ago and now i decided to try to post some stuff.
I am 34 and live in the netherlands.
I am firmly anti dp and i already described myself like a "liberal nut in the wild" i think that is pretty accurate.
My hope is that eventually every country and state abolishes the death penalty.
I am always up for a discussion and exchange idea's so feel free to reply to this thread or drop me a message.

    Kind regards,

    Unsub

Welcome to the site Unsub. I look forward to reading more of your somewhat comical anti-death penalty posts. I have faith that the more you read you will come to realize they all can't be rehabilitated.

Of course a criminal should be punished, but more so they should be "changed" to try to make them a usefull member of society.
How do you change the mentality of serial killers or murderous pedophiles?

I second your opinion Unsub that emotions shouldn´t be part of a justice system. It doesen´t matter (for a sentence) if a murdered person has a family or a huge crowd of friends. It´s the crime itself which must be punished. A life of a drug addict or prostitute is not less worth than the life of a CEO in a criminal case (in contradiction to a civil case).

I´m just cruious how you´ll deal with real dangerous people? LWOP? Release after time beeing served? Release after evalauted by a psychologist? ...?
No murder can be so cruel that there are not still useful imbeciles who do gloss over the murderer and apologize.

Some cant be changed. If neutral mental health specialist makes the judgement a person will be forever a danger to society he should be kept under lock and key.

Ok, but some of them who had been locked away commited murders? Is this acceptable for you? Despite that they harass the MVS and the prsion staff.

I admit this is the weakspot in my argument. A specialist can make a mistake and set a person free that shouldnt have been freed. But given the choice i prefer this over the alternative. I am stupid i believe people are good by nature, with the proper guidance you can rehabilitate almost everyone.

I get you're a Anti, but do you research all the crimes of DR inmates?? I only ask this, because some of the murders by some of these murder's are over-kill, and most of these inmates are repeat offenders for a whole slew of crimes, and apparently haven't learned from the time most have spent in Prison from their previous crimes.....I can say openly I believe in the death Penalty, but can also be objective and agree with some cases where there is clear cut evidence that could exonerate a DR inmate or prove it was not a premeditated act, and should get LWOP......And have you really taken the time to try to understand the life long nightmare the victims families have to live?? I am not trying to call you out, i am just trying to understand what makes you just take a the stand of being a so-called anti, makes it sound like no matter the crime, they all deserve a 2nd,3rd or even 20th chance, when the murdered victims has no chance for living........

Im not sure if this thread is the right place for that discussion, but i guess a moderator will move it if needed.

I wont deny that there are some inmates that have done some pretty horrible things. I can even agree that some should never be freed again.
But i dont think the pain and suffering of the victims family should play any part in what punishment the criminal gets, please dont think that i dont care about it. This is gonna sound horrible but the justice system should not care about the victim. It should care about what crime is commited and the intend and culpability of the offender. Emotions should have no place in a justice system.
The next question is what to do with the people the above system finds unfit to be ever free.
There are no "right" answers here. I believe that killing someone is never justified. If interested i can explain those reasons. But several good arguments can be made for just killing the guy.

About the victims family and friends
I truly believe the current system in place in the us is the worst possible for them. Either execute them fast or just put them in prison. A case that takes 3 decades is almost as bad for them as the original crime.

    Final word:
I truly sympathise with families that have fallen victim to a crime. Where a crime is commited justice should be done, we only disagree on the form of justice.

    Final Final word:
Not really satisfied yet. I might edit this a bit later but the big picture will be the same.

Please explain to my cousin's now 4 year old granddaughter that her not having her daddy because a man cold bloodedly shot him at HER 3rd birthday party should be ignored. Please tell my cousin's daughter that crying herself to sleep at night because she is now a struggling single mother shouldn't matter. Please tell my nephew that his pain & injuries he received in order to stop the shooter from killing anyone else is irrelevant. Please tell his friend that had just been promoted to Captain in the fire department that his lifelong dream job will not happen because he was gut shot that his lifelong health problems from being shot isn't important.
My daughter's friend was robbed, kidnapped, raped then shot by a guy she went to school with. We are looking forward to April 26th for him to be put to death for the crimes he committed. Our next focus will be when his partner in crime will also be put to death. That is the only way to insure that they will not get out to hurt any more families. I'm sick & tire of paying my hard earned money to support these low lifes one day longer.
