So this is another one of those "conservative" justices he promised aye?
Yes most likely. Mitch and rand aren’t going to return blue slips for someone whos liberal. Reading up on him he’s friends with walker who he’s replacing, was supporting him early on, votes republican, and is a federalist society member. While being a clerk for one judge can be a good indication of where they stand it’s not always the case for example 11th circuit judge newsome was a clerk for David Souter and he’s as conservative as they come while Kennedy produced several liberal and conservative clerks. The only justices on the court you can say 100% only hire clerks of the same ideology are Sotomayor and Thomas.

He’s a member of the federalist society and as far as I can tell, the only Ginsburg clerk who is one.

As for the 3 New York nominees, I’d be surprised if they’re given blue slips this close to the election.

Mitch is finally clearing the backlog this month and is filling some seats in California.

Punishing somehow seems unfair to it, and it is certain that imagining ‘punishment’ and ‘being supposed to punish’ hurts it, arouses fear in it." Friedrich Nietzsche

With Harris as the VP nominee, it’s unlikely she’ll allow any more California nominees to proceed, despite all the judicial emergencies in the Golden State, particularly the Eastern District.

The district courts in New Jersey and California are both a disaster

New Jersey and Washington State have the most stubborn senators on working with the Trump administration on judges.

Even Jeff Sessions, Mitch McConnell and Ted Cruz allowed president Obama to appoint democrats in their states.

There are way too few district judge positions in the country. Unfortunately, until the Supreme Court takes care of the nationwide injunction problem, nominations will only become more fraught.

That’s also true, Congress hasn’t passed a major judges bill since 1990 or created any new judges at all since 2007, which unfortunately has resulted in civil cases getting dragged out and some criminal cases dismissed outright because they can’t comply with the speedy trial law.

As for the nationwide injunctions, Republicans have as much to gain as Democrats do. When the next democrat president takes office and attempts some unilateral moves, republicans will judge shop in favorable district courts just like democrats have. The plaintiffs only need to win one injunction while the government would need to win all.

The western district of Washington is exceptionally undermanned. It has five vacancies with only two judges left, who are both entitled to senior status.

It's remarkable that those D-senators are doing this to their state.
