The reason the California nominees aren’t getting hearings is because Kamala Harris hasn’t blue slipped them. For the moment blue slips are still be honored for district court seats but not circuit court seats.

Can't they just throw out the blue slips like they did Courts of Appeals?
On another note, how feasible are recess appointments? Assuming the Republicans keep the senate after the GA runoffs, any recess-appointed judges would survive an eventual Senate vote.

They could yes, it’s completely the Judiciary Committee chairman’s decision. But the blue slip without question benefits the party out of power more than the party in power. Republicans made a bold decision to throw them away on circuit court judges.
As for recess appointments, Trump could do what Jimmy Carter did to a Hawaii judge at the end of his term, giving him a recess appointment but that would expire at the end of 2021, the first part of the 117th Congress. But unless republicans confirm them before January 20th, Biden would then never sign their judicial commission and they would expire at the end of 2021.
One thing Republicans could do, outgoing senator Doug Jones has blocked Edmund Lacour’s nomination to the Middle District of Alabama, when he leaves on January 3, republicans could quickly nominate and confirm him before January 20th, assuming Tommy Tuberville and Richard Shelby quickly return blue slips.
That ain’t happening. Even Mitch ain’t that good. The CA, NM, NV, CT, AL, and NY nominations are DOA
Yesterday, US Senate confirmed two more district judges: Taylor McNeel for the Southern District of Mississippi, and Philip Calabrese for the Northern District of Ohio.
Still the Tennessee nominations have not been reported out of committee, same for the circuit nominations. What is Graham waiting for here? It's time to hurry up.
Also 5 nominees are still pending for the Federal Claims court.
A federal claims nomination was just confirmed today and the committee vote for the one 7th vacancy and the TN/SC nominations is set for tomorrow
The judiciary committee rules allow the minority party to hold nominations over for a week, all those judges were marked up last week so they should be reported to the full senate this week.
So we are looking at votes next week maybe on the 7th, the two TN, and one SC seats. Also new hearing on the calendar next week it will be tight but it’s possible the 1st seat will be filled to.
Also, what's happening with the four seats in Connecticut, California, and Nevada that have cleared the Judiciary Committee? Or did the senators from those states pull their blue slips after the Committee closed them?
