Trial is been set next year for a Henderson teen accused of killing his mother and brother the day after his 16th birthday and then disappearing for several days.

The Sept. 22, 2014, date means Adrian Navarro-Canales could go to trial two days after the first anniversary of the stabbing deaths of 40-year-old Elvira Canales-Gomez and 9-year-old Cesar Navarro.

Navarro-Canales pleaded not guilty last month in Clark County District Court after being charged as an adult with two counts of murder.

He cannot face the death penalty because of his age.

The discovery of his mother's and brother's bodies in their apartment on Sept. 20 touched off a manhunt that extended to the U.S.-Mexico border.

Navarro-Canales was found and arrested Sept. 25 at a Las Vegas Strip food court.
