Killing a K-9 should be a misdemeanor at worst. I agree with one_two_bomb on this one. No animal is worth a human's life and some of those K-9 dogs need killed. I remember an incident when I was a kid and one of those K-9 "heroes" attacked a kid at my grade school because the dumb dog thought his medication was drugs.

    Firstly, you are both wrong

Secondly, the only reason a K-9 officer is shot in the line of duty is because he/she reached the perpetrator before the uniformed human officer. The intent to kill to avoid capture/prosecution is an aggravating factor. The law should apply equally.

I mean, it should be a felony to kill a K-9 dog, but it shouldn't be punishable by death.

Aggravating factor to what? Killing a K-9, or any animal for that matter, is not murder. Murder is the unlawful taking of HUMAN life. Sure it should definitely be a felony and is, but a dog's life is NOT equal to a human's.

Also I love how you guys are all avoiding the original topic of whether impaired drivers who cause death should be executed. SMH

I don't think impaired drivers should be executed but if you drive drunk and take a life it should be minimum 20 years with no parole.

The sentencing up here where I live is ridiculous. A guy killed three children and their grandpa and only got 10 years. That was in 2016 and he's all ready had a hearing for day parole, which thankfully was denied.

Next May he is eligible for full parole. If he gets out it will mean he did less than a year in prison for each murder.

Good point lol. Still executing someone for killing a dog is insane. I can bring up all kinds of news articles about K-9 dogs attacking kids for no reason. The problem is this pedestal that people in law enforcement are put on. Tons of bad apples are cops, prison guards, and federal agents.

No, I disagree. I think intent matters. I don’t believe it would deter people from speeding or driving drunk, either, because most people don’t even know what qualifies for death penalty and most people don’t think about the consequences when driving that fast.
